Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Teams up with DM Thomas Foundation for £10,000 Giveaway

At The end of 2018 the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead partnered with the DM Thomas Foundation to award £10,000 to support young people within the community of the hotel. Thirty Seven local Charites, clubs, schools and non-profit community groups applied for the Newcastle £10k Giveaway whose applications were reviewed by the panel of supporters at the hotel.
We were delighted to be supporting ten projects working with sick, disabled and disadvantaged young people in communities across the north east. The winning projects were presented with their giveaway grants at a special reception held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
Leading Link received £750 to purchase music equipment for disadvantaged young people in Northumberland to take part in regular activities to develop different skills and build their resilience.
Northbourne Youth Initiative was awarded £1,000 for 12 young people in west Newcastle to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and develop new skills and increase their confidence.
Jobes Gym will use its grant of £1,300 to purchase boxing equipment enabling more young people in Newcastle to take part in regular boxing sessions and build their fitness, confidence and friendships.
Sunderland Amateur Boxing Club received £1,500 for boxing bags and gloves to allow more young people, especially young women to participate in boxing and develop self-esteem, confidence and discipline.
Oasis Community Housing was awarded £1,850 to deliver life skills workshops for vulnerable young women in Gateshead to learn budgeting, cooking and other important skills and develop their confidence and assertiveness.
