TechHub Launched to Create Startup Community Outside of Newcastle City Centre

Leading North East Digitech talent agency Ronald James Group has launched a budding TechHub for start up businesses in the region following its move to 3,500sq ft new premises. The hub will give local startups access to fully refurbished office space, desks and meeting rooms as well as the opportunity to work with like-minded people from the region.

The company has enjoyed an exciting start to 2019 with a growing headcount, development of an extensive client portfolio and a rapidly increasing pool of some of the top digital and tech talent in the region.

Ronald James’ CEO James Blackwell commented: “There will be a total of 11 units available, of which we have sold two already. The great thing is that there are lots of tech companies who want to move a team to the North East and we can facilitate that. The big ambition is to have all the units rented out with tech entrepreneurs bouncing ideas off each other. We want to help tech startups and give them a platform outside of the city centre.”

Ronald James has enjoyed a successful year to date with plans to increase its existing 15 person headcount, with a further 20 recruitment consultants and delivery consultants in the North East.

The business was started as a bootstrap with a £5,000 credit card. In its first year the company hit its first £500,000 milestone and is now forecast to make £1.5m in revenue. Having placed more than 500 Digital and Tech candidates, Ronald James’ expertise has helped to establish relationships with large North East based firms Orangebus, Atom Bank and Tombola.

As well as placing staff within tech companies, Ronald James also runs a Developer Advancement Club, which aims to help tech workers improve their skills. DevHub North holds regular events and webinars to share valuable knowledge and best practice from guest speakers. It also offers opportunities for staff to develop and make new connections in the North East region.
