Ryder Architecture Receive Queen's Award for Enterprise

Ryder has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – recognised for its excellence in international trade.  The practice is one of 205 organisations across the UK to be recognised with a prestigious award.  The awards celebrate the success of exciting and innovative businesses which are leading the way with pioneering products or services, delivering impressive social mobility programmes or showing their commitment to excellent sustainable development practices.

Ryder was established in Newcastle in 1953, and now has a team of over 270 passionate people across the UK, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Amsterdam, delivering pioneering architectural services across a diverse portfolio of sectors, collaborating globally with Ryder Alliance partners.

Managing partner, Mark Thompson said, “We are extremely proud of our heritage in north east England and are delighted to have our quest for collaborative international excellence recognised by Her Majesty The Queen through this award.  It is a testimony to the talent of our people and partners across all our places.  Thank you to our clients and friends near and far who inspire and drive us to continually improve and build on the services we deliver.”

It has been a great start to 2021 for the business who are once again celebrating a three star status in the Best Companies to Work For survey and have recently promoted 15 rising stars, including three new architectural directors and seven associates.

The practice’s recent projects include the unveiling of net zero carbon offices on Tyneside for the operations centre for the world’s largest windfarm at Dogger Bank, Whipps Cross Hospital redevelopment in London, Pacific Residence for University for British Columbia in Vancouver, the completion of Kowloon East Regional Police Headquarters in Hong Kong [in collaboration with Farrell’s] and BIM strategies for Qatar public works department and Hellas Gold by our specialist digital consultancy BIM Academy.
