Craig Hawkes is the Founder and Director of Kaleidoscope Creative Films Agency (Kaleidoscope CFA). For over a decade, he has led a team of talented animators, filmmakers, and photographers, delivering high-impact visual storytelling for brands and organisations. Under Craig’s leadership, Kaleidoscope CFA has worked on national and international projects for Amazon, Pfizer, and VolkerStevin, as well as local collaborations with Newcastle University and Northumberland County Council. The agency’s work has also extended across Europe, solidifying its reputation in the industry.
Kaleidoscope CFA was born from Craig’s vision to create human-centric films that go beyond traditional corporate content. In his words, “Not all corporate films need to feature a man in a suit—most businesses have incredible staff with incredible stories. Corporate films should highlight this, and their social responsibility and core values.” As high-quality camera technology became more accessible in the late 2000s, Craig recognised the growing dominance of video content in marketing. However, amidst the drive for viral hits, he saw a gap in authentic, story-driven content. Today, with the rise of AI, genuine human storytelling is more crucial than ever—something AI will never truly replicate.
Craig’s background in the arts shapes his creative approach. He earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Art before completing a Master’s in Film at Newcastle University. In his early 20s, he worked as an artist, exhibiting in Portugal, Germany, and London. This artistic foundation continues to influence his storytelling, allowing him to craft compelling, visually rich narratives for brands and businesses.
Before formally establishing Kaleidoscope CFA in 2017, Craig was a co-director at DocYoumentary Films. Over the past eight years, the agency has expanded to include animation, photography, and more recently, PR and marketing support. Initially focused on the North East, Kaleidoscope CFA has since built a strong reputation within the built environment sector, leading to ongoing collaborations with construction firms across the UK.
Beyond commercial work, Kaleidoscope CFA also produces self-funded documentaries, born from a desire to push creative boundaries and explore new storytelling techniques. These films focus on individuals and communities striving to make a positive impact, with the goal of releasing one documentary per quarter.
Today, Kaleidoscope CFA is a well-established film, photography, and animation studio based in the North East, with plans for continued growth. Unlike many production companies that rely on freelancers, Craig has built a salaried, in-house team committed to delivering end-to-end creative and marketing services. While their reach extends far beyond the region, the team remains deeply rooted in the North East, dedicated to championing its stories and talent.
