Miller UK, one of the most prominent manufacturers in Northumberland, has demonstrated its commitment to the community by donating its resources and dedicated skilled welders to assist a charity that focuses on reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving homes for those no longer wanted.
Located in Cramlington, Miller has supported the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter -the company’s chosen charity for 2023 - which has seen the groundbreaking attachment specialist donating two experienced welders over two days to help with the refurbishment of kennels and main gate located at the charity’s Longbenton facility.
Housing over 142 animals, this refurbishment of six kennels will allow the shelter to provide a safe space for dogs that enter the facility - meaning they are not visible to one another- preventing unwanted distress. Miller also carried out a repair of the main gate significantly increasing the shelters security.
And the repairs and refurbishment project came on the back of Miller supporting the charity earlier this year, which seen the business use its muck shifting equipment to clear the shelter’s recreational field and create a pool for the pigs located at the Longbenton facility to mark the start of their partnership and ongoing commitment.
Speaking about Miller’s charitable efforts, Rachael Kendall, General Manager at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and commitment demonstrated by Miller. The refurbishment of the dog kennels will greatly improve the living conditions of the animals that come into the shelter, offering them comfort and security during their stay with us.
“The work Miller carried out earlier in the year has already had a massive positive impact on the wellbeing of our animals in our care and we are so grateful - for the company’s dedication to the shelter and ongoing efforts to raise money for our cause.”
The local manufacturing business has gained global recognition as a leading supplier of the safest and most advanced attachments to major OEMs worldwide. To raise funds, Miller has already initiated a series of fundraising activities for its workforce to partake in and has an extensive plan in place for the remainder of the year – including a dog walk and sponsored bike ride.
Ricky Martin, Field Service Engineer at Miller said: “At Miller UK, we firmly believe in giving back to our community and supporting causes that make a genuine difference. We are proud to partner with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, knowing that our expertise and resources will contribute to keeping animals safe until they find loving homes, and we’re looking forward to continuing our efforts for the duration of the year.”
