Mutha Cuva Secures Pre-Seed Investment To Transform Heat Pump Servicing In The UK

North East climate tech start-up, Mutha Cuva, has secured significant angel investment in pre-seed funding to scale its subscription-based platform for heat pump servicing and maintenance. The round was spearheaded by regional female investment firm, Lifted Ventures, with participation from nine angel investors in the Lifted Ventures network.

Founded by Amy Mooney, an experienced heating industry director, Mutha Cuva is tackling one of the UK’s most urgent clean energy challenges: ensuring reliable and scalable aftercare for heat pumps as they replace gas boilers.

In May 2025, the UK took a decisive step toward decarbonising home heating by banning the installation of gas boilers in new-build homes. Heat pumps are set to become the default low-carbon alternative, but their successful rollout depends on robust aftercare infrastructure.

Mutha Cuva’s solution is a technology-led subscription service that simplifies and streamlines heat pump maintenance. The platform provides:

  • Automated service bookings for homeowners.
  • Remote monitoring to keep systems running efficiently.
  • AI-powered support tools to help engineers deliver faster, smarter servicing.

Amy Mooney, Founder of Mutha Cuva, said:
“The UK is at a pivotal moment in its transition away from fossil fuels. While heat pumps are essential to achieving net zero, the industry has overlooked a critical piece of the puzzle: aftercare. Mutha Cuva is here to make heat pump servicing simple, reliable and scalable, giving homeowners peace of mind and helping the UK hit its climate targets.

“Securing this pre-seed investment is a huge milestone for us. It validates our vision and gives us the backing we need to accelerate growth and deliver real impact at scale. I’m particularly proud to have Lifted Ventures leading this round; their commitment and network of experienced angels bring not only capital but also the expertise and support we need as we scale.”

The Mutha Cuva mission is clear: turning the UK’s climate targets into warm, affordable homes powered by trusted, low-carbon heat.

Jordan Dargue, Co-Founder of Lifted Ventures, added: “Amy and the Mutha Cuva team are solving a vital bottleneck in the UK’s green transition. Their combination of industry expertise and tech-driven innovation makes them uniquely positioned to build the trusted servicing infrastructure heat pumps need to succeed at scale.

“We’re thrilled that a strong group of angel investors is backing Amy and Mutha Cuva, bringing not just funding but invaluable experience and networks to accelerate their growth.”

Helen Oldham, Co-Founder of Lifted Ventures commented: “At Lifted Ventures, we are committed to backing regional female entrepreneurs, who remain underrepresented in venture capital. Supporting Amy on this journey is exactly the kind of high-impact, founder-led innovation we set out to champion.”

The fresh investment will be used to expand operations in the North East and accelerate technology development, with a focus on creating a seamless, efficient experience for both homeowners and service engineers - before scaling nationally from 2026.
