Robson Laidler fighting fit with Better Health at Work Awards reaccreditation success

Robson Laidler Accountants, with offices in Newcastle, Durham and Teesside, has once again achieved the top-level ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard in the Better Health at Work Awards programme. This marks the fifth consecutive year the firm has retained the highest level for its ongoing commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of its team.

The Better Health at Work Award  is a partnership programme that is managed by the Northern TUC with endorsement from Public Health England and local authorities across the North East and Cumbria. It celebrates the commitment of employers aiming to improve the health of their employees.

The programme requires participants to have a three-year health strategy and to run at least five workplace campaigns every year, with Robson Laidler organising more than 10-events throughout 2025 covering topics such as physical and mental health, cancer awareness, neurodiversity and financial wellbeing.
The team has qualified mental health first aiders, domestic violence champions, grief first aiders and neurodiversity champions who work across Robson Laidler’s three sites to offer support and signposting.

Kelly Richardson who coordinates Robson Laidler’s Better Health at Work Programme said: “Robson Laidler has a team of health advocates across the business who meet every month to look at the different areas of physical and mental health chosen by the wider team to base our campaign focus.  Our advocates have received bespoke training to ensure they can share their knowledge effectively among their colleagues and the wider community.

“The benefit is that all members of our team gain greater awareness of health issues and practical help in improving their own and their families’ wellbeing, while the firm gets improved employee morale and engagement through the activities, which hopefully results in a healthier workforce.
“We encourage everyone to share information so that it has the maximum positive impact across our community.”

More than 400 regional employers are now participating in the scheme, with Robson Laidler just a handful to retain the ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard, via the completion of a criteria document, portfolio and full workplace assessment.

Robson Laidler Co-MD Amy Park said: “The quality of the work done by our health advocates has a tangible impact on our business culture and operations and we’re very pleased to have retained the highest-level accreditation once again.”
