ROBSON LAIDLER WINS ESG IMPACT AWARD

ROBSON Laidler Accountants has scooped the ESG Impact Award at the North East Accountancy Awards 2024.

Hot on the heels of being named one of the Best Places to Work in the Sunday Times, the accountancy and advisory firm, with offices in Newcastle and Durham, celebrates further success after being named winners in the ESG Impact category at a ceremony held at St James’ Park last week (4.07.24).

The ESG Impact Award is for teams who can demonstrate commitment and achievements in the realm of Environmental, Social, and Governance and was presented by judge Gareth Phillips, managing director, CRL Food Limited.

Robson Laidler, who were also the first certified B Corp in the North East, has been hailed the standout winner for constantly being ahead of the curve, exemplifying excellence and innovation in environmental and social performance.

Announcing the award Mr Phillips said: “As the first B Corp certified business in the North East, Robson Laidler has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement from this distinguished platform. Their leadership in policy improvements has significantly promoted diversity, equity, inclusion, and education within the organisation.”

Robson Laidler Managing Director Graham Purvis said: “We run our business on the triple bottom line principle of people, planet and profit, ensuring there is equal measure between these. We hope that our commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and promote the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about making a positive difference to people and planet as it is about profit.

“I am proud of our team who have all contributed in helping us achieve this award, and to everyone who has helped us on our journey to using our business as a force for good.”

Robson Laidler’s ESG efforts can be exemplified within its recent impact report, highlights of which include being on target to achieve net zero by 2025 and its switch to renewable electricity which has removed all Scope 2 emissions. It is a Real Living Wage Employer with each member of staff having their own unique career pathway, and was shortlisted in the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards last year for its commitment to equality and diversity in recruitment. Robson Laidler also has its own Community Fund, which sees 5% of profits donated to charitable causes in the region each year and staff are encouraged to use volunteer days to do what matters to them most in the community.
