A LANDMARK North East venue is going the extra mile to show that Dementia Matters, by holding a free summer fayre in aid of the charity.
There will be everything from stalls and live music to petting animals, dancing and face painting at the event, on Sunday 1 September at Three Mile, Great North Road, Gosforth.
And there will also be a barbecue, raffle and tombola to raise money for Dementia Matters, a local based charity providing care and support to those living with dementia. The services provided include residential care, day services and home support.
From 11am to 2pm the venue will play host to a wide variety of attractions from cake and book stalls to dancing displays from the Campbell Dance Group and a live performance from singer Sam Rea.
Discovery Zoo will be bringing a range of animals for children to interact with while adults in need of speed can try their hands at racing, in specially installed simulators, courtesy of Racing Sims North East.
There will be garden games such as giant Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornhole, while dogs – who are very much welcome – can be treated to puppachinos.
All proceeds from a raffle – tickets for which can be purchased in advance from the venue - a tombola and a percentage of the sales of slushies and food from the barbecue will go towards Dementia Matters.
Three Mile is part of leading North East hospitality operator Malhotra Group plc’s portfolio of venues and Alice Middleton, Business Development Manager at Malhotra Group plc said the company “is completely committed to helping the charity in any way we can.
“When a family member is diagnosed with dementia or any other neurological condition, the impact on families and loved ones can be devastating” she said.
“And, so, it made sense to put families at the heart of our fundraising drive. We hope as many people as possible, whether they are affected by these issues or simply want to show their support, will come along to what promises to be a really fun summer fayre.”
Bev Reid, Director of Partnerships and Development at Dementia Matters, said: “Dementia is a cruel and awful disease affecting the lives of many.
“We are absolutely delighted this year to have the support of the Malhotra Group to not only ensure vital funds are raised but to also be able to raise awareness about the wonderful services and support we provide to individuals, families and carers.
“We are very much looking forward to meeting everyone on the day”.
