Danny Wade’s construction management business, Wade CMC, was on a rapid growth trajectory when he realised he needed support to keep the business scaling successfully.
Up until the point before joining the Scale-up Leaders’ Academy, Danny’s time was being consumed by the day-to-day running of the business and he was becoming frustrated that he wasn’t able to focus on business growth and providing strategic direction to the team.
With huge ambition to expand and change the landscape of construction, Danny looked to the Scale-up Leaders’ Academy to provide a framework to help him build and scale Wade CMC. From the questions raised throughout the programme, Danny was aware that in order to succeed he needed to make changes in several areas of the business. One of the most beneficial has been involving the team in defining the values and refining the strategy.
“It’s been incredibly powerful involving the team in developing our purpose, values and strategy. Creating these foundations of the business together means they are all bought into the direction we are heading and what we are trying to achieve. Capturing our strategy on the One Page Strategic Plan has been game-changing for us. Knowing what you are trying to achieve provides clarity and without SULA I would not have that clarity of vision.
“We also introduced some quick wins for our teams and already there’s a marked change in accountability which operationally is making us more efficient.”
Danny has recently brought in a senior leadership team and new structure which will free up his time to drive the strategy forward using the framework and tools he has learnt over the past few months.
His ambition for growth is turning into reality as his monthly turnover has increased two and a half times and this is set to increase even more with significant contract wins.
Summing up his SULA experience Danny says: “SULA has the potential to be an absolute rocket ship for your business. You have to commit to it which takes time and energy, but if you get it right it’s really powerful.”
