chairman's dinner
21 January 2015, 18:30 - 23:00
Jesmond Dene House, Jesmond Dene Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 2EY
He is the statesman of North East business and an icon of entrepreneurship – Sir John Hall is our very special guest at our Chairman’s Dinner, our first event of 2015.
To get your new year in business off to an inspirational start, join us for our annual January get-together to enjoy the company of friends and colleagues over a wonderful dinner in the atmospheric surroundings of Jesmond Dene House Hotel.
Sir John was recognised for his considerable contribution with the Forum’s Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at our annual awards in September. The accolade came in the same year as he celebrated 50 years since establishing his business, Cameron Hall Developments, which masterminded the construction of the Metrocentre.
In 1987, Sir John bought the 6,000-acre Wynyard Estate from the Marquess of Londonderry and immediately embarked on a plan to create a business park, village and a multi million pound restoration programme of Wynyard Hall and parkland.
In 2008, his daughter Allison turned the hall into a luxury country house hotel and exciting plans to create a high quality visitor attraction at Wynyard continue today with the development of the Rose Garden.
Sir John is the former owner and chairman of Newcastle United, a club of which he remains life president, and former owner of Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Eagles.
Most recently, at the age of 81, he has become an ambassador for Business Northumberland, helping to drive business growth and encouraging entrepreneurs to start new businesses across the county.
Hosted by Nigel Mills, our Chairman’s Dinner is one of the most popular events on our calendar and always delivers a great evening combining business knowledge and experience with an enjoyable social occasion.
