Members-only Focus Dinner
4 June 2015, 19:00 - 22:00
Middleton Lodge, Kneeton Lane, Middleton Tyas, North Yorkshire DL10 6NJ
After a career flying fighter aircraft for both the RAF and United States Air Force, if anyone were a safe pair of hands to pilot fast growing national building and civil engineering company Gus Robinson Developments Ltd it's Dan Robinson.
Thirteen years in the military saw him selected as the first and only non-American at the time to fly the F22 Raptor stealth fighter for the USAF, with whom he was based in Virginia for three years. On leaving the military Dan moved to New York City to work in private wealth management for Franklin Templeton Investments. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington DC and an MBA from ESADE Business School, Barcelona.
Before his travels Dan had grown up in and around the company established in Hartlepool by his father in the 1970s. Gus Robinson MBE was an electrical engineer who, after an early career in the merchant navy started the business as a heating and plumbing installer, later expanding it into a building company while also working as a successful boxing manager and promoter.
Prior to his untimely death, Gus had built a business based on integrity and trust, developing people as much as buildings, with community at its heart. How many companies have "to be a force for good in society" as their mission statement, for instance? It’s a legacy Dan has not only taken on but also built upon, masterminding the firm’s post-recession recovery.
Dan first joined the business in an official capacity as a non-executive director in 2006. He became vice-chairman in 2009 and took over as chairman of the company in November of 2011 following his father's death.
Gus Robinson Developments Ltd has grown into a multi-million turnover business working on new infrastructure and refurbishment projects in housing, industry, education and culture with a focus on sustainability and responsible waste management.
Now a second generation business, Dan’s aim is for it to be a recognised national brand in the UK and ultimately globally, ensuring that out of tragedy shines a bright future for the business.
Join us in the country house surroundings of Middleton Lodge for dinner in the company of Dan and fellow members for a relaxed evening of discussion about flying, family, recession and growth.
This members-only focus dinner is open to entrepreneurial members only and is charged at £75 + VAT. Please be aware that cancellations received within 72 hours of the event will be charged in full.
