Focus Dinner with Ian Watson, Hadrian Healthcare

With a healthcare empire built on determination and hard work, Ian is a man who could have retired many times over but continues to drive his family business forward; determined to make a difference to the lives of those around him.

2014 North East Entrepreneur of the Year and chairman of Hadrian Healthcare, he currently employs more than 600 people and owns a growing group of luxury residential, nursing and dementia care homes for the elderly in the North East and Yorkshire.

Following an early career in the banking sector, Ian spotted an opportunity in 1996 to establish Hadrian Healthcare with David Nicholson, building residential and nursing care homes across the North East.

The group was sold in 2003 before Ian went on to build a new healthcare portfolio comprising over 550 care beds and 500 staff.

He sold this group in 2006, before re-establishing the Hadrian Healthcare brand in 2007 and investing £50m to create a new group of ten homes across the North of England.

Ian continues to be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the Care Homes, a factor many contribute to the outstanding reputation Hadrian enjoys for providing high-quality care in exceptionally high-quality Homes.
