Join us to food and refreshments before we hear Sara’s remarkable story so far, including how she built a multi-million-pound business from scratch and what it took to get there: from manning factories overnight with her mam and dad to hitting the trade shows of Las Vegas alone, armed with little more than ambition and passion.

From her university bedroom to a £38.3m empire, Sara Davies is a force to be reckoned with.

One of the region’s most prominent entrepreneurs, Sara’s journey begins during her university days where, while on placement at a craft company, she spotted a gap in the market for a tool that could create bespoke envelopes for handmade cards.

With the help from her retired engineer dad, Sara designed and launched ‘The Enveloper’, a ground-breaking product that transformed the craft industry.

It became an instant hit, selling 1,500 in its first ten minutes on Ideal World and 30,000 within six months of initial demonstration.

More innovative products followed and by the time she graduated with her first-class honours degree, Crafter’s Companion was turning over half a million pounds.

Since then, the business has become a leading name in the industry, providing craft-related products to customers across 40 countries and employing more than 200 people worldwide.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Sara swapped the boardroom for the ballroom in 2021, competing in the 19th series of Strictly Come Dancing, and in 2019 joined the hit BBC series Dragons’ Den as their youngest -ever investor.

Splitting her time between running an international crafting corporation, writing her autobiography (due for release in Spring 2022), hearing pitches from budding entrepreneurs from across the country, raising two young boys and supporting Newcastle charity Smart Works as an ambassador, there’s never a dull moment!
