Lanchester Wines, Greencroft Estate, Stanley, Co. Durham, DH9 7XP
An ambition to be carbon minus has inspired Lanchester Group to create one of the most sustainable buildings in the world – their wine bottling facility Greencroft Two – and in this on-site visit, you’ll learn more about it while enjoying an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of their Greencroft One facility.
Located on Lanchester Group’s site in County Durham, Greencroft Two will use the next generation of solar power technology to generate almost 3 million watts of 100% sustainable energy (that’s enough to power the business and give back to the National Grid too).
The facility, which will house new filling lines and increases the Group’s capability to 400 million litres per year, is making waves within the industry as the world’s most environmentally sustainable bottling facility and its most modern.
At our on-site, you’ll get a sneak peek into the Greencroft Two facility, which, at the time of our visit, will have just started its first, large-scale production line - marking the beginning of its transfer from the existing Greencroft One bottling and packaging site.
It’s a representation of what the Group of companies stands for (sustainability, technology, innovation and quality) and is the latest in a series of green investments made by the Group. Going above and beyond legislation and common practice, Lanchester Group has already invested over £8m in renewable heat and energy generation which includes the installation of its own windfarm.
Representing several businesses, including Greencroft Bottling and Lanchester Wines, the Group works with the UK’s leading supermarkets, employs over 550 individuals and has recently toasted record sales of £143m.
As one of a few visitors on the Greencroft site, you’ll have exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the factory floor, allowing you to see the bottling in action, before enjoying lunch with other Forum members. You’ll hear the story of Lanchester Group from co-founder Tony Cleary (winner of the Forum’s 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year award) and learn how they became the greenest liquor business in the world.
The small print - Due to limited capacity on-site visits are exclusively for entrepreneurial members of the Forum and no guests or substitutions are allowed.
