Business Leaders Invited To Shape Tees Valley's 10-Year Growth Plan

Business leaders are being encouraged to help shape the future direction of the Tees Valley economy at a series of engagement events.

An initial series of events are being held as part of the development of the region’s Local Growth Plan (LGP) – a 10-year strategic framework to drive economic growth.

Tees Valley Combined Authority and its five Local Authorities are working with key partners to define the area’s economic vision and sector strengths.

Five growth priorities have already been identified, including driving growth in the foundational economy, increasing business density, and equipping more people with the skills needed to get into work.

The engagement events will allow businesses to share views on the scale of opportunity in each priority area, consider what success could look like across the region, and put forward ideas on interventions that will have the biggest impact.

The events will be held at the Teesworks Skills Academy, South Bank, and will focus on the following Local Growth Priorities:

•    Modern Industrial and Technology Cluster and Advanced Manufacturing Sector – Tuesday 7 October, 10am
•    Digital and Creative Cluster – Wednesday 8 October, 2pm
•    Foundational Economy – Thursday 9 October, 10am
•    Growth and Regeneration – Thursday 9 October, 2pm

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This Local Growth Plan is about building on our strengths and ensuring that everyone in Tees Valley can share in the opportunities that lie ahead.

“But to make it a success, we need businesses at the heart of the conversation. These events are a chance for local employers, innovators and leaders to directly influence the priorities and actions that will shape our economy for the next decade. I’d urge as many business voices as possible to get involved and help us create a plan that delivers real, lasting growth for our region.”

Business leaders, employers, and stakeholders interested in contributing to the Tees Valley Local Growth Plan are encouraged to register now here.
