Dyer has donated a life-saving defibrillator to the Annfield Plain community, helping improve access to emergency medical equipment for local residents, businesses and visitors.
The defibrillator was gifted to Dyer by long-standing charity partner Red Sky Foundation following the 2026 Manufacturers Leaders Summit at New College Durham, where Dyer's parent company, SST Group, supported as platinum sponsor. Organised by Theo James Recruitment, the event raised more than £11,000 for the charity.
Rather than retaining the equipment for internal use, County Durham-based Dyer chose to install it where it could have the greatest benefit. As part of their development programme, first year apprentices Leon Price, Alex Dixon, Joe Cummings and Logan Venus worked alongside HSE Lead Matthew Dyer to identify the best location, researching potential sites and assessing where access to a public defibrillator would have the biggest impact before recommending a location close to the engineering firm's Annfield Plain site.

Our nationally award-winning apprenticeship programme with New College Durham develops not only technical skills, but also encourages our young engineers to make a positive contribution to their local community.”
Red Sky Foundation is a North East-based charity dedicated to improving access to life-saving cardiac care and equipment. The charity has funded hundreds of defibrillators across the region, helping ensure more communities have access to vital emergency support when every second counts.
Dyer has supported Red Sky Foundation for a number of years, raising more than £10,000 to help fund life-saving cardiac care for babies, children and adults across the region.

Now installed near Dyer's Annfield Plain site at neighbouring business PMI Creative, with installation carried out free of charge by local firm Brittons Electrical Services, the defibrillator reflects the company's ongoing commitment to supporting the community it has been part of for nearly five decades.
