J&B Recycling Announces Sponsorship of Brunel Stand at Hartlepool United Football Club

J&B Recycling, part of the Urbaser Group, is pleased to announce its latest initiative, the branding of the upper tier advertising boards in the Brunel Stand at Hartlepool United Football Club. This sponsorship is a significant milestone in their longstanding partnership with the club and reinforces their shared commitment to community engagement and environmental sustainability.

Over the past few years, J&B Recycling has proudly collaborated with Hartlepool United FC, managing match day waste, and supporting the grounds team to dispose of grass cuttings responsibly through composting.

J&B Recycling’s Sales Manager, Charlie Payne, said, “We are always looking for ways to improve the service we provide our customers, so after noticing a significant increase in recyclable materials over the last year, we requested an appointment to conduct an audit of match day waste to see if we could help improve the club’s recycling rates, and ensure costs are kept as low as possible for the waste being produced.

“Whilst we were visiting, we identified another opportunity to support our local club by branding the upper tier advertising boards in the Brunel stand.”

It is hoped that, as well as supporting the club, the new advertising boards will serve as a reminder to fans on match day about the importance of managing their waste properly.

Charlie said, “Our aim is to promote messages which underscore the significant environmental benefits of recycling, and which help to drive up recycling rates whilst cutting down on contamination. We’ve also improved our labelling on bins and introduced plastic cup collection points to help increase the rate of plastics recovered at home games. Hopefully we can take this even further next season to help the club achieve their sustainability goals.”

J&B Recycling, which was founded in Hartlepool in 1998 by local businesswoman Vikki Jackson-Smith, process more than 200,000 tonnes of waste from households and businesses from across the North East at their facilities in Hartlepool, South Tees and Washington. Their flagship Materials Recycling Facility, located in Hartlepool, uses high-tech, automated processes to separate materials, which are then re-processed into new, raw materials.

Charlie added, “Next time you're at a Hartlepool United home game, keep an eye out for us. We're more than just sponsors – we're fans, and we're committed to making a positive impact, both on and off the pitch.”
