Richard Reed Solicitors backs Love Amelia’s Back to School campaign

Sunderland law firm Richard Reed Solicitors is continuing its commitment to supporting the local community by backing Love, Amelia’s Back to School campaign, and in turn helping children and families across Sunderland prepare for the new school year.

As a firm deeply rooted in Sunderland, Richard Reed Solicitors believes its role extends beyond providing legal services. Its community ethos is centred on deep local roots, active charitable giving and strong regional partnerships across Sunderland and the wider North East.

This summer, members of the Richard Reed team supported Love, Amelia’s School Bags campaign through both a donation and hands-on volunteering, helping prepare essential school supplies for distribution to local children.

The campaign will provide 2,000 school bags to children across Sunderland, with 1,750 distributed through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme and a further 250 provided to Gentoo tenants.

For families facing financial pressure, the cost of returning to school can add significant stress, and Love, Amelia’s campaign helps ease that burden while ensuring children have the equipment they need to start the new school year feeling prepared, included and confident.

Sarah Reid, Managing Director at Richard Reed Solicitors, said:
“As a Sunderland-based firm, supporting our local community is incredibly important to us. We work with individuals and families from across the area every day, so we understand that financial pressures can affect families in many different ways.

Something as simple as having the right school bag and equipment can make a significant difference to how a child feels when they walk through the school gates at the start of a new term. Every child deserves to feel prepared, included and excited about their education, regardless of their family’s circumstances.

That is why we strongly believe in supporting Love, Amelia’s Back to School campaign. As well as making a donation, it was fantastic for members of our team to give their time and get directly involved in preparing the school bags. Seeing the work that goes into the project and knowing the difference those bags will make to children across Sunderland made the volunteering day especially rewarding for the team.”

Love, Amelia is one of many organisations supported through Richard Reed’s wider commitment to the communities it serves. The firm actively supports local and regional causes through charitable partnerships, sponsorship and employee involvement, including joining the Network for Good as a Friend of Grace House, partnering with the Foundation of Light, Red Sky Foundation and Smart Works Newcastle, and supporting a range of other local charities and community organisations.

Its commitment also extends to grassroots sport, Richard Reed is a regional partner of Sunderland AFC and supports local youth sport, including the Under-11 section at Ryhope Cricket Club, recognising the important role sport plays in building confidence, connection and opportunities for young people.

The firm also contributes to the wider development of Sunderland, Managing Director Sarah Reid is Chair of the Sunderland Voluntary Sector Alliance and a Board Director at Sunderland BID, supporting the city's voluntary, community and business sectors.

Team members regularly take part in volunteer days, school outreach and legal awareness sessions, including workshops and webinars designed to make legal information more accessible to local individuals and businesses. For Richard Reed, this combination of practical support and positive impact is at the heart of its community ethos.

Sarah Reid added:

“For us, community support isn't just about making a donation, we want our team to get involved, give their time and understand the difference that local organisations are making.

We are fortunate to be part of a city with so many organisations working hard to support local people, we want to play our part in that. Our community work is about more than sponsorship. It is about building relationships, giving our people opportunities to volunteer and using the resources we have as a business to support causes that matter locally. We want to be a business that is genuinely part of the community, not simply located here.”

The initiative is another example of the firm's long-standing commitment to Sunderland and the wider North East using its people, partnerships and resources to make a positive contribution to the communities it serves. Combining expert knowledge of the law with their down to earth, friendly approach the growing team of over 40 at Richard Reed Solicitors are highly regarded in the industry for their legal advice for all aspects of personal and business life, and their personalised customer-centric service which distinguishes the firm and elevates the firm in the sector.
