Richard Reed Solicitors Reinforces Community Focus with Ryhope Cricket Club Sponsorship

Richard Reed Solicitors has strengthened its commitment to community investment across Sunderland through a new sponsorship agreement with Ryhope Cricket Club, supporting the club’s growing Under 11 section.

The move aligns with the firm’s long-standing focus on social value, grassroots engagement, and regional development. That approach was formally recognised in 2025 when the firm was Highly Commended in the Community Business of the Year category at the North East Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, an accolade highlighting its sustained impact across local communities.

The sponsorship comes at a pivotal moment for Ryhope Cricket Club, following recent growth in participation, Ryhope Cricket Club is now able to field two Under 11 teams for the first time in many years, a clear and encouraging sign that interest in cricket is increasing among young people in the area.

Club representatives have described the milestone as a major step forward, highlighting the dedication of coaches, volunteers and families who continue to invest their time and energy into developing the junior section. The ability to run two teams not only allows more children to take part, but also helps nurture talent, build confidence and strengthen the club’s future.

Sarah Reid, Managing Director, Richard Reed Solicitors said: “Supporting organisations like Ryhope Cricket Club is central to our values as a business. Grassroots sport plays an important role in developing confidence, resilience, and opportunity for young people, while also strengthening local communities.

Seeing two Under 11 teams representing the club this season is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of how the sport is growing locally.”

Mick Poulton, Ryhope Cricket Club said: “Cricket is a sport where you can learn teamwork, discipline, and patience. More simply than that, it’s a great way to make friends and have fun.

We are always looking for team sponsors, so any support from local businesses or individuals is hugely appreciated, even small donations can make a real difference. We’re also always keen to welcome new players. If any children are interested in joining a team, we’ll make sure they are supported and made to feel part of the club from day one.”

The partnership underlines Richard Reed Solicitors’ ongoing strategy of combining commercial success with meaningful community contribution across the region.

Sarah added: “This partnership reflects how we see our role as a North East business—not just providing legal services, but actively contributing to the communities we’re part of.

We’re looking forward to seeing these young teams develop over the season and beyond.”
