31 March 2015, 19:00 - 22:00

Bistro 21, Aykley Heads House, Aykley Vale, Durham DH1 5TS

Please note this dinner is now sold out – if you’d like to be added to the reserve list please contact the Forum team on 0191 500 7780.

During a lifetime in business, Sir Peter Vardy has received most of the accolades going – North East Businessman of the Year, the Motor Industry’s Outstanding Achievement Award, the Forum’s Lifetime Achievement award and, of course, a Knighthood. In fact, enough accolades to make a person put their feet up on a job well done.

Not Sir Peter. For him, building Europe’s most profitable motor dealer group with a turnover of £2bn and 6,000 staff across the UK, establishing the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, sponsoring four highly successful schools and supporting countless overseas projects is not enough. He has barely stopped since selling Reg Vardy plc in 2006.

Sir Peter instead chose to support his sons’ companies - Vardy Property Group and Peter Vardy Ltd - and pass on the benefit of his wisdom by mentoring others just starting out in business acting as an honorary ambassador for the Forum.

Sir Peter is also the Chairman of The Vardy Foundation, the charitable arm of the Vardy group, helping thousands of individuals and charities in the UK and around the world. Most recently he has turned his attention to supporting men coming out of prison, tackling drug and alcohol dependence by providing a home, meaningful work and a place to belong.

He is also Patron and Chairman of a new volunteer-led initiative called Safe Families for Children. This innovative UK charity gives help to families in crisis by providing safe short-term accommodation for children and befriending support to parents and carers. Safe Families was founded in Chicago in 2003 and has proven highly effective in stabilising families at times of crisis, preventing child neglect and abuse, and has brought about significant reductions to the number of children entering the care system.

We are delighted therefore that Sir Peter will be hosting an intimate dinner that’s aimed particularly at newer members who may be less familiar with his story and will benefit from an evening in the warm company of a truly inspirational entrepreneur.

This members-only focus dinner is open to entrepreneurial members only and is charged at £75 + VAT. Please be aware that cancellations received within 72 hours of the event will be charged in full.
