Round Table: Tax Support for Entrepreneurs (Call for Evidence)

8 January 2026, 09:30 - 11:00

North Standard, 100 Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DU

The Government has launched a major Call for Evidence on how tax schemes support entrepreneurs and, crucially, where they fall short. With the consultation open until 28th February 2026,this is a rare opportunity for our community to directly influence policy.

In this round table we’ll work through the consultation framework together, cutting straight to what matters: what’s working, what isn’t and what bold changes are needed to incentivise entrepreneurs to stick in the game.

Specifically we will be talking about these schemes:  SEIS, EIS, VCT and EMI, together with the BADR currently in place.  We will be asking about your experience with these schemes and interested in what challenges you've experienced in using them.   We'd also like to know how these schemes could be expanded to increase the incentive for entrepreneurs.

This session is your chance to shape the entrepreneurial narrative and help us put forward a strong, collective submission that reflects the needs of North East founders.

Our round tables are shaped by the insights and experiences of attendees, so while we aim to cover the topics above, we may also dive into other related areas during the session.
