Agilico launches ‘Schools for Change’ initiative to boost sustainability

Agilico, a leading innovator in workplace technology and sustainability, has launched Schools for Change, a nationwide initiative helping UK schools reduce their environmental footprint through sustainable print solutions and inspiring educational resources.

Timed to coincide with World Environment Day (5 June) and World Ocean Day (8 June), Schools for Change invites schools across the country to join a growing community committed to greener practices — from cutting carbon emissions to sparking vital conversations about topics such as ocean conservation.
Agilico is the UK leader in workplace technology, with sites spread across the UK comprising in excess of 450 people. Its Head of Marketing, Sam Saunders, explained: “At Agilico, sustainability is not a side initiative — it’s central to everything we do.
“With Schools for Change, we're empowering educational institutions to make tangible environmental strides. By coinciding the launch with key global environmental dates - World Environment Day and World Ocean Day - we can really emphasise how Agilico's initiatives support sustainable consumption and production patterns.”
As the UK’s pioneering Circular-First Managed Print Services provider, Agilico’s refurbished print devices keep resources in use for as long as possible, extracting their maximum value and regenerating them into new products or materials. Over the past two years 3,500 refurbished print devices have been deployed, avoiding 1,825 tonnes of CO₂e –  the equivalent of planting over 73,000 trees.
And its new education-focused campaign Schools for Change is designed to further highlight the tangible positive impact of the company’s sustainability drive and Agilico Zero (its circular-first Managed Print Service). Agilico Zero offers refurbished multifunctional devices (MFDs) that cut carbon emissions by 97.5% compared with new machines. Each device avoids over half a tonne of CO₂ emissions. As of April 2025, the initiative has already seen 336 Agilico Zero devices deployed across 76 UK schools.
And as a gesture to schoolchildren, a beautifully illustrated children’s book Jessie the Jellyfish is gifted to every nursery and primary school that adopts Agilico Zero, educating pupils on ocean conservation and plastic pollution. In the past two months 150 copies of Jessie the Jellyfish were given to young pupils.
Lisa Barnett, Manager of Hayling Community Pre-School said: “We’re grateful to receive our free copy of such a lovely book for our children and ensure our net-zero impact on the environment reduces with a fully refurbished printer from Agilico Zero.”
Schools joining the programme can also make a Sustainability Pledge, receiving a personalised certificate and practical guidance to help reduce paper waste, energy use, and reliance on single-use plastics.
Internally, Agilico continues to walk the talk, embedding sustainability across its operations. Their work supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including banning single-use plastic bottles in offices, packaging with oxo-biodegradable wrap, and switching to recycled and bamboo-based sanitation products.
Luke Adams, the Head of IT at Embley School, Hampshire, said “The experience I received was exceptional from start to finish, making the decision to choose Agilico as a service provider for Embley an easy one.”
As the world unites to tackle the climate and ecological crises, Schools for Change is empowering the next generation to reduce waste, cut carbon, and protect the planet.
