Charlie Hoult operates a portfolio of businesses where he is entrepreneur/investor: Futureheads Recruitment, in specialist UX/internet roles; Opencast Software, software development in financial services and government computing; Cheviot Insured, corporate broker; and, Hoult Yard Hubs, business centres. The group of companies employs some 120 people and operates with a turnover around £25million.

Charlie has been active in regional leadership as the founder and chair of Dynamo North East, a network for corporate IT firms, universities and skills providers. Dynamo has over 150 member companies representing the major employers in the region. Dynamo has initiated £100million in projects since it started in 2014. These include starting North East Futures University Technical College, a new science super school for 600 students; National Innovation Centre for Data with Newcastle University; International Centre for Connected Construction with Northumbria Uni.
