On-Site Visit to Prima Cheese

4 June 2024, 10:30 - 13:00

Prima House, 13 Partnership Ct, Seaham Grange Industrial Estate, Seaham SR7 0PX

Chances are you’ve probably eaten a Prima Cheese product without even knowing it.

One of the biggest cheese processors in the UK, Prima launched in the 90s as a small industrial unit in Sedgefield, where owners, Mr and Mrs Beni, would buy milk from local farmers, turn it into fresh mozzarella, and shred it into pizza cheese.

Twenty years later and Prima is a Queens Award winner, a Sunday Times International 200 fastest growing company, and a market leader delivering nationwide and exporting to over 50 countries.

Based in Seaham, Prima’s production facility is a hive of activity 24/7 and has been constantly expanding to meet demand for the past two decades.

Its latest expansion project, beginning in 2017 and finishing in 2020, transformed its operations, taking the business from 35,000 to 80,000 sq/ft, increasing productivity, efficiencies and output and creating an additional 60 jobs.

At the helm are second generation family members - Nagma and Nima - who joined the company in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Together, the siblings have played a pivotal role in scaling the company whilst retaining its founding family values.

During this on-site visit led by Nima (Co-CEO), you’ll have exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the factory floor of one of the North East’s largest exporters.

You’ll see firsthand how Prima’s cheese is made in the factory; discover the history of the company, its values and commitment to its people; enjoy a pizza lunch where you will have the opportunity to sample Prima’s products; and finally, you’ll learn how a small cheese processor from northern England has taken the world by storm – one cheese blend at a time.

The small print - Due to limited capacity on-site visits are exclusively for entrepreneurial members of the Forum and no guests or substitutions are allowed.
